Would God want you to do that?
My husband is a worrier by nature. And the other day he started freaking out, thinking he had cancer. I caught him listen to YouTube videos about different types of cancers and symptoms.
I snapped at him, “Turn that off! We are supposed to be believing that we are completely healed! Is that going to build your faith?! Would God want you to be watching that?”
He sighed and said, “No, He wouldn’t.” And he turned it off.
What if you had someone around 24/7, sitting on your shoulder asking you, Would God want you to do that? Is that pleasing to God?
It might make us think twice before doing certain things. Especially if we are constantly reminded.
What if every single decision we made was motivated by holiness? Motivated by wanting to do the right thing by God? Wanting to do the most pleasing thing for Him?
And whatever we ask we receive from him, because we keep his commandments and do what pleases him. 1 John 3:22
If you read yesterday’s devo, God wants us to ask for things and answer our prayers.
But I believe that when we are living a life that is pleasing to God, it unlocks even more possibilities for God to show up.
We need to be intentionally thinking about our decision making. Even the smallest of decisions and ask ourselves if it’s pleasing to Him.
Because if it’s not pleasing to God, we shouldn’t be doing it.
There are certain things that I struggled with for a long time that could have been remedied had I just asked myself that question, “Is this pleasing to God?“
It shifts your focus from yourself and readjusts it back to Him.
If we were all just a little more aware. If we all just thought of Him before we did anything, especially when dealing with the things we struggle with.
God is this pleasing to you?
So, think about it, would God want you to do that?

Pray with me!
Father God, forgive me for forgetting to think about you when I make decisions. I want to do what you’ve asked me to and what is pleasing to you. I don’t want to struggle with the same things over and over again. Help me to shift my focus off of myself and back to you. Thank you for having a plan and purpose for me. Help me to please you in everything that I do.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
