When was the last time you had an encouter with God?

I woke up this morning and needed God. I have been in a funk recently, extremely overwhelmed by little things and unable to be motivated. So I got up asking myself what was I doing wrong.

Sure I listen to worship music on a normal basis, go to church and pray every week. But I was not spending quality intimate time with the restorer of my soul.

I snuck into the coziest place in our apartment with some new worship music (Maverick City Music) in the background, began to read the Bible and pray. Thankfulness and praise began to flow out of me, I began to intercede for things I didn’t even realize I was praying for. I felt comforted, I felt strength, I received direction and a renewed perspective.

I was having an encounter with God. I was communicating with Him. I was speaking and He was responding. He reminded me of His promises in my life. He lifted my spirits and gave me the strength I needed to face the day.

Why are we not doing this every single day? Why do we make up excuses and allow other things to get in the way or go before our time with God?

When was the last time you had an encounter with God?

I want to start every day of my life in the presence of Jesus. I want to be open to all the things He wants to say and do in my life. I want to be used by God. I want to hear from Him and be intimate with Him. I want to get closer and closer to the lover of my heart. His presence is where I find answers and see the reflection of who I truly am.

James 4:8 Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.

It’s time we drop the excuses. God longs to be close with us. He wants to draw near to us.

We must make God a priority. If we want more of God in our lives, we need to be spending more time with Him and encountering Him daily.

How do you become more like Jesus if you don’t spend time with him? How are you supposed to know all of God’s promises for you if you don’t dig deep and find out?

I challenge you today to have an encounter with God. To set time aside to spend quality time with the Creator of the universe and let Him love on you and restore you. We all need a reset and time in the presence of the Almighty.

Pray with me!
Father God, I want to have an encounter with you today. Forgive me for the excuses I’ve made when I should have been spending time with you. I want to be closer to you. I draw near to you today. I ask that you would speak to my heart, comfort me, restore me and heal me. I want more of you. Help me to have a powerful encounter with you and feel your presence.
