My family is an extraordinary one.
Generations of rich history and Godly impact.
Today, my Aunt Alyson passed away and is in heaven with our family that has gone on before her.
And it got me thinking of the impact she’s made in my life. And the impact of our beautiful family.
And I got scared…
Because I am the next generation that must carry on the legacy that they have left for us.
A legacy of falling in love with Jesus. A legacy of ministry and sharing the gospel. A legacy of serving others and the community around us. A legacy of Godly parenting. A legacy of leadership and strength. A legacy of fighting for what you believe in. A legacy of ultimately loving others selflessly. A legacy where people are touched by Jesus just because of who you are.
It dawned on me that the legacy of this family comes with a huge responsibility to carry it on and pass along this legacy lifestyle to my own children someday.
No matter what your family legacy is, it’s our job to create and culture our own legacy that will remain long after we pass away from this life.
I want to share the love of Jesus with as many people as I can. I want to be my impact. I want to be known for how I love others. And I want it to spread. That is legacy. When what you’ve done spreads to others like a fire that cannot be put out.
Thank you Aunt Alyson for reminding me of the precious legacy that I want to carry on. Thank you for the way you lived your life with such faith and veracity. Thank you for always being somebody to look up to. You were so breathtaking. You had the most infectious laughter and beautiful smile. You lit up the room. You showed me as a young girl the kind of Christian woman that I wanted to be. And as we watched you battle cancer for years, it forever reminded us of the goodness of God. That He is faithful no matter the circumstances. That even though it was incredibly difficult, that your faith didn’t waiver. You will forever inspire us, nor will you ever be forgotten. You are a huge part of our family legacy that will impact the generations to come.
It is an honor to come from a line of people as extraordinary as this. It it time to take on the legacy and responsibility that they instilled in us. It is time to carry the torch as we begin our own families. To become the Godly matriarch. To become the leaders, the pioneers, the influences, the prayer warriors, the role models, the worshippers that they were.. and go farther, thanks to the generations of sowing. Let us reap the harvest and sow some more!
It’s not goodbye, it’s just see you later. Such a beautiful family party awaits. Until we meet again.
What is your legacy?
