Do you write it down?
I remember in kindergarten, after my dad got home from work, he would sit with me and help me to write in my journal. I needed the help because I was just learning to read, write and spell.
Throughout my teens and twenties, I journaled more and more. Writing down my feelings, what was happening in my life, what I was praying for or what God had done.
Especially as I matured in my faith, I felt it was so important to write down every single thing I was praying for.
Why, Sierra?
Because then I could look back and see all the things I was asking God for, or how He came through for me, or how He answered my prayers, even if it wasn’t in the time or way I was expecting.
Psalm 105:5 tells us to “remember” the wonders God has done.
Exodus 17:14 says, “…the Lord instructed Moses, “Write this down on a scroll as a permanent reminder…”
Jeremiah 30:2 tells us, “This says the Lord, the God of Israel: Write all the words that I have spoken to you in a book.”
If God tells a bunch of people throughout the Bible to write things down to remind us, it must be important.
Sometimes we have moments where we get depressed waiting for something we’ve prayed for. We get weary, we doubt God will come through for us at all and we get scared our lives are falling apart.
That’s why writing things down is so important.
When you start writing down what you are praying for, what God speaks to you, and how he answers your prayers, that is when you can build your faith and see how God comes through for you.
You use that in the dark times when you get sick of waiting or when you doubt, and you remember how God worked in your life and is working now!
I have a journal entry where I was telling God how I felt I was supposed to move or do something new within the next year, but that I wouldn’t go unless I had my school loans paid off. I wrote out my prayer of asking God to help me pay for them and a car, since mine had broken down recently.
Overnight, over $20,000 showed up anonymously and I was able to pay off my school loans and buy a car with cash! And then I moved to Sweden the following year.
And now, since I had it written down, I can look back at it and remember how God always provided for me in the exact time I needed it. I have faith because God came through for me and answered my prayers over and over. It gives you something to hold on to when life is bleak and confusing.
I challenge you to start writing your prayers down. Start writing down what God is speaking to you and what He’s done for you. Because when things get hard, and they will, you must remember who God is, what He’s promised you and what He’s already done for you.
So, do you write stuff down?

Pray with me!
Father God, thank you that you always come through for me. Help me not to forget that in the tough moments, you are there and you have my back. I trust you in the waiting. I trust you when times are hard. Speak to me. Help me to remember all the times you have answered my prayers and provided for me. I love you.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
