Do you have more fear or more faith?
Do you cancel out your prayers?
My husband and I were having a conversation in the car the other day. We were airing out everything that had been on our mind.
I realized that we were speaking death over almost every single thing we were praying for.
We long for so many things.
For example, my husband is very motivated by fear (as are most of us) and this is something that he is actively working on spiritually. But when he is in pain, he will be looking up all the symptoms, reading up on the worst possible diagnoses and believe he has the worst of the worst.
The other day, I caught him looking up cancer symptoms and treatments. He said he must have cancer. Every time he thinks he’s sick, he thinks he has cancer and actually says the words I have cancer.
Every time this happens, I become livid. Especially because I know the truth behind the power of our words and I know that God is more than able and willing to heal us. And my husband is actually claiming sickness and disease with his mouth!
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it and indulge it will eat its fruit and bear the consequences of their words. Proverbs 18:21
The Bible couldn’t be more clear that our words have immense power.
So, if we are praying for healing from God in our bodies one minute and the next saying we are sick, you are bringing death on your body. It’s practically like we are cancelling out the prayers we prayed because we don’t even believe for them. The Bible tells us that all we need is a mustard seed amount of faith.
We need to desperately learn that when we pray for something, we immediately stop speaking against it.
When healing a man, Jesus said, Rise and go. Your faith has made you well. (Luke 17:19)
The words coming out of our mouths need to reflect faith. We need to be speaking life, especially when we have fear, especially when we are in pain, especially when we are scared of the worst.
We need to speak what we believe, not what we feel. This is so important!
I encourage you, if you are praying for something, start speaking in faith for it, even if it feels the opposite. We speak life out of faith, not speaking death out of fear.
It’s time we rise up and speak life no matter what it looks like. That is faith. That is what is going to bring healing and freedom.
