Is there a perfect time to get your life together? A perfect time to pursue God and put Him first? A perfect time to be a real Christian? A perfect time to start reading the Bible? A perfect time to learn how to pray?
I remember the days when I used to diet–or at least try to start one.
For some reason, a diet could only start on a Monday. Or the beginning of a month. Or the beginning of a new year. I always made excuses as to why I couldn’t start that day.
Was it because I just wanted an excuse so that I could eat all the bad food until that designated start time? Was I afraid to start or be disciplined? Did I have better things to do? Did I actually care enough?
So many of us claim that we want to be “on-fire” Christians. We want to be strong in our faith. We want to be leaders in our communities and families. We want to know God on a deeper level. We want to be someone that others look up to. We want to be bold and fearless.
What are you waiting for? Return to your God! Commit yourself in love, in justice! Wait for your God, and don’t give up on him – ever! Hosea 12:6
So, what are we waiting for? The right time? The right resources? The right environment? The right people in our lives? Wait until you’ve had a little more fun and live in sin a little longer?
Now is the time.
Every day we need to look at it as a fresh Monday, a fresh month, a fresh new year. Forget about yesterday. Stop making excuses as to why you can’t pursue God with all that you have. Today is the day.
Life is short. And I know that I wanna say that I don’t wanna waste time when I could be closer to God than I ever have been before. We need to return to Him and never give up.
Are you with me? What are you waiting for?
Response Questions
1. What excuses have you been making as to why you aren’t where you want to be spiritually?
2. What am I going to do to commit to God today?
Pray with me!
Father God, forgive me for not always being committed to you. I don’t want to keep using excuses for not giving you my all. I don’t want to spend another day where I don’t follow after you whole-heartedly. Thank you that I never have to give up on you because you always come through for me. Help me not to wait for the “right time” to give everything to you. Today I give you everything.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
