I used to listen to a lot of Christian podcasts about relationships. And they all seemed to say the same thing.
Men are like waffles…with compartmental brains. Women are like spaghetti…with multitasking, million-things-at-once brains.
Men supposedly compartmentalize everything and only focus on one emotion and situation at a time. While women are multitaskers emotionally and situationally, in a million places at once.
And I thought about that, a lot.
But I think that many of us compartmentalize and sometimes we compartmentalize God.
We put him in a box that only comes out of the attic when the holidays roll around.
We have all these different boxes that we pull out in the moment that we need them. The relationship compartment. The money compartment. The depression compartment. The God compartment.
We include him only when we need him. We allow him to move only in certain areas of our lives and leave him out of others.
What if we place God into every compartment?
The God and relationship compartment. The God and money compartment. The God and depression compartment.
He wants to be involved in every aspect of our lives. He doesn’t just want to be there when you desperately need him. He wants to be there for all the other stuff too.
Psalm 32:8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.
Isn’t it comforting to know that God wants to be involved in every area, that he wants to teach us in every way we should go.
Think of it like this, maybe you have certain friends where you only talk about certain things. I used to have friends when I could talk about my passion for musical theatre. I had friends from church where I could talk about God. I had friends I would goof off with or talk about relationships with. But we all need a friend that can be involved in every aspect of our lives.
It’s time that we bring God into every area, compartment, relationship, passion, hobby and dream. He wants to be involved and counsel us through everything life throws at us.
So let’s take God out of the “God box” and infuse him into everything and every aspect, cause that’s where he lovingly longs to be.

Pray with me!
Father God, I don’t want to keep you out of any areas in my life. Forgive me if I only come to you when I “need” you. I want you to counsel me and teach me. I want to live the life you have in mind for me. You are so good to me and I want you to be involved in every aspect of my life.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
