It’s time to create and complete your own Disney bucket list! To all my true hard core Disney fans, I’m sure you all have some Disney dreams you have been hoping would someday come true. I am no exception, and in fact, some would say that I tend to dream too big.
I am here to encourage all you dreamers out there and tell you that it is indeed possible to have all your wildest dreams come true…and Disney is the best place for that to happen!
Speaking from my own experience, I have been lowkey obsessed with Disney from a young age to a disturbing degree. I can sing almost every lyric and quote every line from any Disney movie you can name. You can find me wearing Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast apparel most weeks out of the year. I even auditioned to be a Disney princess once upon a time.
For some, Disney is a magical escape from reality where the hero always wins, the underdog is always accepted, true love is awakened, adults can feel like children once again and dreams really can come true. That was and is the case for me.
For some Disney is just a brand, a bunch of theme parks or a place to vacation every once in a while. But then there’s those die-hard fans that keep up with the latest movies, know the in’s and out’s of the parks and the latest news, and who could enjoy anything Disney every day for the rest of their lives and never get bored.
If you’re one of my fellow fans, then I can almost guarantee that you have a Disney bucket list or Disney dreams that flitter to and fro in your mind. There is no time like the present to make those dreams a reality and you start just by writing it down…
I. What Actually Interests You?
Go on the Disney website or Youtube and educate yourself a little bit. Look at all the different parks, rides, restaurants and movies. Think about what it is that you love. Do you love to travel and want to visit all 6 of the Disney castles across the world? Do you love fashion and want to own one of the latest Disney “Dooney and Bourke” purses? Do you love dessert and want to try all of the mickey shaped treats in Magic Kingdom? Think about your absolute favorite Disney movies…are their restaurants, apparel, rides, shows or performances that pertain to them? For example, maybe you love the movie Beauty and the Beast and want to achieve the goal of doing all things “Belle”. Your goals may look like this…(The Perfect Bucket List for the Beauty and the Beast fan)
II. Be Realistic
Keep in mind that EVERYTHING is possible (Begin chant, I do believe in fairies, I do, I do). But…that doesn’t mean everything on your list will be crossed off. Some of the dreams I had on my list, only happened by chance and were genuinely a miracle.
Sitting in the living room, eating my dino egg oatmeal before school in the 1st grade, I saw the episode of Full House. Oh, you know which one I’m talking about! (The House Meets the Mouse Part 1 and 2) The one where Michelle becomes princess for the day in Disney World and has her 3 wishes granted. That was THE magical moment where I dreamed and hoped that I would one day become “Princess of the Day” (which is now referred to as The Grand Marshal). And folks, let me tell you something, that dream came true about 20 years later. There is nothing too big or too small to add to your Disney Bucket List. Just know that some things happen by chance and some things you have to take a chance to make them happen yourself. (Read about how I became the Grand Marshal of Magic Kingdom here)
III. Write It Out
For a long time, I had my Disney Bucket List typed out and as I got older, my dreams got bigger in size and number. I rewrote my list dozens of times and you can always edit yours as well.
I’m the artsy fartsy type, so I like to write it out real pretty, have pictures attached, or use nice fonts.
Once you’ve figured out what your Disney goals and dreams are, you can write them in any order you want. Personally, I think it’s best to write them in order starting from the least important and/or expensive to the grandest, big items.
IV. Completion Process
Start small. Save up for the smallest goals and complete the ones you know are absolutely possible and build your way up. Sometimes the big ones just happen by chance, like when I got my dream Disney proposal or when I became Grand Marshal of Magic Kingdom. Majority of our personal Disney goals will take a lot of time, money and patience. Don’t give up.
If you don’t go to the parks that often, when you do, plan ahead of time the things you need to do to complete your goals. If you go to the parks all the time, start knocking off some of the things on your list by trying to complete a few things every time you go to the parks.
Remember
Everything is possible. Everything. Don’t give up on your dreams, especially your Disney ones. You are the only one standing in the way of making your dreams come true.
