Are you stealing from God?
I was talking on the phone with my mom about the struggles of finances. How it is the absolute worst to be longing for things and living paycheck to paycheck.
She asked, are you tithing?
Many of you may not realize what tithing is. Tithe means tenth, so 10 percent of our income should be given back to God through the local church that we attend. It’s simply giving back to God what already belongs to Him.
Many of us make excuses to not tithe and give like, we are broke and don’t have any extra money to give or that’s my money that I worked for or I have nothing to give.
And that’s the reason that we should give. When we give that 10% back to God, we are showing that we trust God even if we don’t have great finances. It shows that we believe God is the ultimate provider over the money that the world gives. It’s a simple thing we can do to show God how much He means to us.
And when we don’t tithe, we are stealing from God what belongs to Him.
“Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. “But you ask, ‘How are we robbing you?’ “In tithes and offerings. Malachi 3:8
When we make excuses for not being able to tithe, we are in a sense, tying God’s hands. God asks us to tithe because it belongs to Him, He is the ultimate provider and it shows that we trust Him.
It also opens you up to be blessed by God and allow Him to be the provider in our lives. He always makes a way, especially when we freely give.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7
Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you. Luke 6:38
When we make excuses for not being able to tithe, we are in a sense, tying God’s hands. God asks us to tithe because it belongs to Him, He is the ultimate provider and it shows that we trust Him.
It’s time we take our faith to the next level and be obedient to what the Word tells us to do. We don’t tithe because we want to be blessed, but God blesses our obedience. It is a beautiful thing!
So, are you stealing from God?

Pray with me!
Father God, forgive me for making excuses and not giving cheerfully. Help me to make the right decisions when it comes to money. Help me to give cheerfully and freely. I don’t give because I want something in return, but thank you for blessing me. I love you.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
