Are you immovable?
Many of us have an issue with standing firm, refusing to give in or give up.
We settle for less. Keep our mouths shut when we should speak up. We give in to temptation when we should be refusing to even give it a thought.
And I think the reason we give in so easily is because we don’t see the long term benefit or reward.
It’s just one more drink.
I’ve slept with them before so it’s not going to make a difference if I do it again.
I just don’t feel like exercising today.
Who cares if I talk to people on a bunch of dating apps, it’s not hurting anybody.
I know I have bills due but I really want to buy this.
This tv show is pretty provocative but I’ve seen it all. Who cares.
I’m too tired to go to church. I’m gonna sleep in.
I don’t have time to read my Bible or pray.
I’m gonna keep dating them because I like them, even though I know I won’t end up with them.
I only cuss when I’m at work so I fit in with the guys.
The scenarios are endless. The things that can trip us up can be some of the smallest things.
But that is the difference between a Christian and a powerful Christian.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:58
Stand firm.
Let nothing move you.
It is not in vain!
The Bible couldn’t be more clear that we shouldn’t be doing things half way. Allowing a little bit in here or there. It says we should always give ourselves fully to the work of the Lord because it is not in vain, meaning that there is something so good on the other side of that labor!
We need to be standing firm. It makes the difference between someone lukewarm and someone on fire for the Lord. And I don’t know about you but I want to be on fire!
I want to be immovable. Another version says be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.
We need to be pillars for other people to look up to. People who cannot easily be pushed over. We need to be steadfast and immovable Christians who do everything enthusiastically for the Lord, knowing that it is the best life we could ever possibly live.
It’s time for us to stop settling for mediocre. God wants to give you more than a mediocre life. We need to be walking examples of the power of Jesus. Nothing should be able to shake us or move us.
It’s time for us to stop giving in and giving up so easily. It’s never useless to do things for the Lord.
So, are you immovable?

Pray with me!
Father God, help me to stand firm against any single thing that comes at me and tries to trip me up. Help me not to settle for anything less than you best. Give me conviction when I need to fix something. I want to be steadfast and unshakable in my faith and in my decisions. Thank you that I have so many good things to look forward to when I live my life for you. Help me to give myself fully to you.
In Jesus’ name, amen.
